Common questions
The things people ask first.
Getting started, cost your first recipe
Add a few ingredients with their pack price and unit, then build a recipe and drop those ingredients in. Plate Pro shows the recipe cost, cost per portion and, once you set a selling price, the food cost % and gross profit. Nest a sub-recipe (a sauce, a dough) inside another recipe and its cost flows straight through. That is the whole idea: cost it once, and it stays right.
Importing supplier prices via CSV
If you already keep ingredients or prices in a spreadsheet, export it as CSV and import it into Plate Pro to bring your list across in one go, no retyping. Match your columns to ingredient name, unit and price, and you are set. From there, every price update keeps a history with the % change so you catch creep early.
Syncing across Mac, iPhone & iPad (iCloud)
Plate Pro syncs over your private iCloud (CloudKit). Sign in to the same Apple ID on each device and your recipes, ingredients and reports stay in step automatically. There is no separate account and no web login, it is your iCloud, not ours. Everything still works offline; changes sync when you are back online.
Restoring a purchase or managing your subscription
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. To restore a purchase, open Plate Pro and use Restore Purchases, tied to your Apple ID, it carries across your devices. To change or cancel a subscription, manage it in Settings on your iPhone/iPad (Apple ID → Subscriptions) or in the App Store on your Mac. Billing questions are handled through Apple support.
Do you collect my data?
No. There is no account, no sign-up and no tracking, we collect no data. Your recipes, costs and margins live on your device and in your private iCloud, and nowhere else.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Plate Pro is a native Apple app, not a web tool, so all your costing works without a connection. iCloud sync simply picks up where it left off the next time you are online.
Does it do inventory or purchase orders?
Plate Pro is costing-first today: recipe and sub-recipe costing, supplier price tracking, wastage and more. Full inventory management and purchase orders are on the roadmap, not shipped yet, see what is coming next on the roadmap.
